The majority of the buildings in this scene were designed by Quinlan Terry, completed in 1988. This thoughtful design compliments the existing buildings on either side that date back to the mid-nineteenth Century and the boathouses beneath, which are even older. These are now occupied by boatbuilder, and restorer Mark Edwards (see links) who manages to keep the riverfront a hub of activity the whole year round.
