One hundred years ago, a parliamentary legislation was passed protecting this view, thought by many as the most beautiful view in England. It has, in the past, inspired such artists as Corot, Rowlandson and Turner. As a result of this Protection Act, it will continue to be enjoyed by artists and walkers alike for years to come.
