These etchings are

produced on a copper plate.

After the preliminary

drawings are put together.

The final drawing is then

reproduced in reverse

by hand. This is transfered

on to the plate with

a needle point

after an acid-resist

ground has been laid.

The drawn plate is placed

in an acid bath for

a certain amount of time,

depending on the weather and

the age of the acid.

The acid bites into the

exposed areas of copper

thus creating a groove.

This is placed on a hot

plate and the inks

are applied. The inks are

then wiped off and

the prepared plate is

put through an etching

press under a piece of

etching paper that has been

soaked and blotted. The end

result is an original print

which must be left to dry and

be pressed for two days.It is

then ready to be

signed and editioned.
